2009 Custom Martian Manhunter Lego Figure

The currently running eBay auction describes this as a "Custom Lego Batman friend and Justice League member Martian Manhunter." It's served "freshfromthesewers" at a starting bid of $5.99.

  1. Someone has a lot of patience and a very steady hand to paint that...

On an unrelated note...digging the blog theme change (especially the periwinkle links...what can I say, I'm a girl.) Are you full-out embracing Blackest Night or are you in mourning? Will we see some Blackest Night coverage in the future?

  2. Nah-- I'm pretty sure the fine details were drawn on a sticker and adhered.

This is yet another temporary blog theme, so I can't take credit for the default periwinkle links. I've been absent from posting for a week, and Halloween is coming up, so I thought a dramatic turn would be appropriate. I always intended to give the Black Lanterns coverage (especially after I read some fanboys on a message board griping that this was just a nostalgia blog.) I also needed to get caught up on the Justice League Detroit Blog beforehand, since Blackest Night features a lot of its members prominently. Anyway, more BL material is forthcoming, and will arrive as time permits. My time, sadly, still isn't fully my own.

  3. What's wrong with a nostalgia blog? Since the subject of your blog is dead -- and this could be the one super-hero death that ends up being permanent -- the blog can't help but be nostalgic. "Remember when my favorite character was still alive? Those were the days!"

  4. The fact that this is a nostalgia blog is one of this blog's best features. You've done an amazing job collecting the history of J'onn J'onnz and it's nice to look back on.

  5. I have no problem with nostalgia-- I just don't want the blog to only be about nostalgia. I'd like, when I have more time and energy, to give the more recent past and possible future more coverage.

  6. I really don't see it as nostalgia. I think you balance it pretty well. Maybe a few more reviews of pertinent current stuff. As I said in your previous post, Miss Martian's starting to interest me. And some there are some pretty Martian related things that would be interesting to analyze (i.e. in Superman Secret Origin Luthor is reading a book by Erdel, or a while back in Seven Soldiers Frankenstein went to Mars.) Just talkin' out of my ass.
