As little as I care to read anything by J.T. Krul, I'll be buying this. These characters have a weird relationship where Ollie (of all people) admires Martian Manhunter, while J'Onn (of all people) is somewhat dismissive of Green Arrow. I'm curious to see exactly how that will be screwed up here. Plus, that cover is boss, and book is still three bucks.

  1. "Plus, that cover is boss, and book is still three bucks." That cover IS cool. And why's he unaffected by that fire? I suppose that's the kind of confidence a guy gets when he finally starts wearing pants.

I'm cautiously optimistic about J'onn's appearance in DC Legacies. (Hopefully no more retcons...)

And thankfully you can get a non-signed version of that pop-up book for $20 on Amazon. I might have to buy that now...

Ohhh....Lobo in R.E.B.E.L.S.? I'm looking forward to that. If they throw Animal Man in there along with Starfire and Adam Strange that could be a fun read.

  2. R.E.B.E.L.S. took nearly a year to look like the team I wanted to read, and a properly utilized Lobo would please me much. Stealth's death still bums me out, though. I'm listening to the Lobo audiobook now, plus I did a write up of his first annual for DC Bloodlines, so I'm already bad Lobo'd out.

  3. Green Arrow and Martian Manhunter...Worlds Finest replacements. This Mauro fellow can eat it, BTW.

Perez on the other hand, can play favorites all he wants, as it's awesome.

J'onn's part in World War Three IS pretty awesome, isn't it?

Lee does so little regular work these days, I don't even know.

Is Lobo getting a vile menagerie listing? I do think their first meeting in JLI is pretty fun.

  4. I've long wanted Lobo in the VM, but held back, because it felt too much like my hand at play rather than a reflection of continuity. However, once I finish the audiobook, which involves Lobo taking a contract on J'Onn, I figure we're in.

You know, I really ought to cover the GA/MM team-up from Brave and the Bold. My old write-up from the '90s was perfectly fine...

  5. I forgot about that Lobo audiobook! Are you going to write that up as well? I might just buy the paperback (since it's a lot cheaper) for some summer reading.

"You know, I really ought to cover the GA/MM team-up from Brave and the Bold." Go for it. I never knew they had teamed up before.

  6. Do not-- I repeat-- DO NOT buy "Last Sons" in paperback. The audiobook is fun because it's like a radio play, but actually reading this tripe would be nauseating. It's a Lobo book guest-starring Superman and the Martian Manhunter. Feetal's Gizz is it ever awful!

  7. Duly-noted. I'll find a way to listen to it. This is where my friend's Audible account comes in handy...
