After yesterday's triumphant trailer for the
Alien Atlas' debut as part of “Injustice: Gods Among Us,” I feel comfortable offering a less-than-laudable collection of Martian Manhunter appearances on the
Justice League animated series. Jobbers gonna job.
I understand why you offered this, Frank. However, I stopped mid point, and it is things like this that made me joke that if DC was a company and he was an employee, J'Onn J'Onnzz would either have left for some place like Marvel or file charges with the EEOC.
ReplyDeleteI'll admit to chuckling several times while watching. I remember in the first season that there was this big outcry over Superman getting routinely jobbed to make room for the other heroes to strut. Martian Manhunter is more vulnerable and has a smaller, less reactionary fan base, so I understand his getting disproportionately smacked around in place of more popular and female/minority representative heroes. Justice League Unlimited had more heroes to share the pain, which took some of the heat off J'Onn. I prefer the Manhunter be treated as a badass, but he was still handled respectfully enough as a personality that I could get past his animated glass jaw.
