JUSTICE LEAGUE #38I'd have to be a humorless stick in the mud to point out that J'onn J'onzz is the only hero obscured by the Flash on the variant cover. Who else though, y'know?

JUSTICE LEAGUE UNITED VOL. 1: JUSTICE LEAGUE CANADA HCI bought and read the two Futures End issues, working under the assumption they wouldn't be collected in a normal fashion like this. Egg on my face. On the other hand, I bought the books based on fraudulent solicitation copy, so it wasn't entirely my fault I got stuck with these duds, unless you want to point out that I should have known better by now. Anyway, they weren't very good, and I'm now disinclined toward buying this trade, so maybe I'll save money in the long run.

"This was just a piece I worked on which came about after I saw a toy series based on the Justice League if theyed existed in the Victorian era of the "Gotham by Gaslight" story drawn by Mike Mignola. I loved researching all the clothing and costume from that period and would really like to work on some larger project sometime."In a switcheroo from our norm, there's a colored version with digital background, but I prefer the original art.

The Horn Firing Creature of Gilgana vs. Ignition
Horn Firing Creature
Debut: 1964
Nemesis: Martian Manhunter
Other Major Foes: None.
Appearances: One comic story
Powers: See name.
Bio:
Big beast on a weird world that was territorial and stuff.
Win: The Cobra-Beast (3-1)
Lose: The Orchestra of Doom (2-3)
Draw: 0
Vs.
Debut: 2000
Nemesis: Superman
Other Major Foes: Superman Family
Appearances: 15 comics.
Powers: Flight, invulnerability, and blast power.
Bio: Armored villain who debuted as part of The Joker League of Anarchy.
Win: 0
Lose: 0
Draw: 0
Idol Speculation:
So here's the thing about the Horn Firing Creature-- it's weak. It can't aim well enough to hit a chubby middle aged man rolling around on the ground without cover about a hundred feet out. It looks really big, but the perspective in the story it appeared in was screwy, and with a little investigating it appears to be maybe elephantine. Then the kicker-- its horns shatter harmlessly on the Martian Manhunter's chest. Now, the Alien Atlas is nobody to sneeze at, obviously, but the fact remains that the creature couldn't possibly injure the super-hero it was supposed to fight. Nothing on Gilgana was very effective at hurting Regular Joes, so even if Nightwing got sucked into a hole in the sky, he could toss some pink sand around and get loose inside a single issue. I was considering low level guys like Mawzir and Killshot, but that was going mighty obscure, and it seemed better to use this match as a teaching opportunity.
Scorch was created for the "Emperor Joker" crossover, then turned up in an issue of Action Comics guest-starring Martian Manhunter, before being given to that hero as a girlfriend in "Trial By Fire." Ignition was also created for "Emperor Joker," had a secret history hinted at, but only turned up for a bit working with a now abandoned version of Zod before joining him in oblivion. Maybe Scorch could re-team with Ignition, and they could both serve in the Vile Menagerie? Ignition is kind of nifty looking, and he might as well get some use.

This was another instance where I had a wide range of options for the fight, as lightweight as Tar Pit and as heavy as Clayface. While I liked the idea of petrifying some clay,

2006 Martian Manhunter and Huntress fan art by Graham Higson

"I think this would be an interesting team-up anyway. It didn't originally start out that way, I was just drawing sketches. I then decided to ink over them and I'm fairly pleased with how they turned out. I particularly like the Huntress one as I always have trouble making women look like women. Even now she only looks about 15. Oh well...Original black and white sketch here.
I decided to use it as my first experiment into colouring pictures on the computer. It took me probably about 2 hours in total to do. The background was knocked off within 5 minutes and I know it's rubbish so don't bother commenting on that. Criticism about the actual characters welcome though."
