Ta'-Dun (The Golden Pyramid)

The Golden Pyramid is a vision seen by Martians on their way to the afterlife. Not unlike "walking into the light," Martians step up from the red sands of Mars onto the first of many steps up the Golden Pyramid. As they ascend, the given Martian will sing the song of their life. At the top of the pyramid, the traveler may be greeted by their loved ones. If the Martian's song is complete, they may then rejoin their family in the hereafter. However, if the lifesong is discordant, or there are notes missing, the Martian's loved ones will hear. It may then be determined that the Martian should return to the material world to complete their work.

First Appearance: JLA/Cyberforce (2005)

Where is this from? it looks modern, but I don't have it. I MUST HAVE IT.

Not a bad idea. Is this from Brightest Day (a.k.a. The Series Frank Diabolu Is Reading So that I Don't Have To)?

Tom, I don't know if you've been reading my reviews of Brightest Day at ...nurgh..., but the more forgiving M.C. has. He will say the Martian Manhunter is average to good, and since you liked the Ostrander series, you might agree. I say nice things about the Aquaman feature, curse a lot, and put down everything else. Once it ends, I'll start figuring out how I'm going to get it all covered here and elswwhere.

Another series I might ought to have read so you guys don't have to is JLA/Cyberforce, references to which I edited out of the picture, but should have noted in the text.

Your funny and thoughtful ...nurgh... reviews are required reading. I have to believe you're making some of that stuff up, though. Would even Grant Morrison reference tentacle rape porn in a Batman comic?

Ah, JLA/Cyberforce. Worth picking up, or better left stumbled upon?

M.C., if you really liked Joe Kelly & Doug Mahnke on JLA, it's actually alright. It's very much more of the same, and Norm Rapmund was an interesting if uneven inker. It's also the only Manhunter-centric inter-company crossover I can think of (he co-stars with Velocity.) On the other hand, it's rushed, obtuse, and largely serves as a bridge between the Image Anniversary hardcover and the short-lived Cyberforce revival series. It's very much a Cyberforce showcase where the JLA is used as a contrast/draw.

Tom, seriously, Morrison is a madman.

Morrison is supposed to be a mad genius. Batman tentacle rape porn is not genius, it's just mad.

Batman Inc makes me all kinds of happy, so you both can shut it. ;)
