Nicely done, nice job on the expression. Almost makes me want to like the new costume. Almost. And there's a lot of purple there, so it's hard to resist.
I do like J'Onn's expression and I do like the new costume, as it does draw on something other than the shorts or skin tight body suit so common in comics.
Frank, there is another Matt Kindt interview on the Martian Manhunter. Is it me, or does Kindt seem to warrant the phrase "human chauvinist pig" in his saying that a hero needs someone like Pa Kent. Here is the link -- http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=43454
I think that J'Onn should be more prominent but I am not sure how much Kindt understands someone who can seem very alien but also has a deep love of humanity.
There are some interesting remarks on the comments thread -- I like the comment that J'Onn can seem quiet alien and vary human. Here is the thread -- http://forums.comicbookresources.com/showthread.php?441167-Matt-Kindt-Mindmelds-with-quot-Martian-Manhunter-quot
To comment on the CBR interview, this whole co-writing situation seems a bit strange. Johns writes something, Kindt writes J'onn's reactions to it? Am I reading that right? And not too thrilled about his enthusiasm to write J'onn's "origin story." What's wrong with J'onn's current origin story? (Well, I don't know if DCnU erased all that or what...) The Pa Kent comment is off-putting...I always see J'onn as the moral compass of the League. That came from his being Martian, not needing an Uncle Ben to show him how to be human. As if Martians can't have morals?
Well, I added my comments to the thread, too. Might as well weigh in.
Since when is J'onn's personality so hard to crack? Gerard Jones and Darwyn Cooke and Giffen/DeMatteis get it. We all get it. Every time I hear someone say J'onn is so hard to figure out I always think of that line from The Wedding Singer, "Billy Idol gets it, why can't she?!"
