Thanks to the Martian Manhunter Fotolog, I was directed to the blog of Diego Giribaldi, a fine amateur artist from Argentina. As part of his (Not Safe For Work) Justice League Redesign Sketches was the neat Martian Manhunter above. Click the link to view his takes on Fire (Green Flame,) Green Lantern Kyle Rayner, harpooned Aquaman, Hawkgirl and Hawkman.

The exaggerated anatomy -- Green Flame's monster thighs, Aquaman's puny lower body -- doesn't work for me. I can tell his choices are deliberate, that he could draw normal bodies if he wanted to, but they're not good choices. But I love the atmospheric Kyle Baker vibe. This guy has talent. I'd love to see a story drawn by him.

The Martian Manhunter in long-J'Onns is kinda' blah. Maybe if I saw it in color I'd better appreciate what Diego is going for. The guy's good enough that I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

@Tom I thought Fire was very striking, just the torso was too skinny to be realistic...the more I think about it, your general impression is correct though.

I thought the GL and hawk redesigns were awesome. He really nailed Kyle's "light armor" thing, better, I think, than it was done in the nineties.

Given no other choice I actually kind of like this desing for MM. It keeps the more barbaric/naturalist aspect of the original design intact, with the modern style seams. It's probably as radical a change as you can get while still keeping the feel of the character. I'd miss the chest harness and collar, but I could live with this. It has more of what I like than the OYL Manhunter.

I found this note of chance and I'm honored with your comments. You're welcome to visit my blog in any moment, i posted new drawings (someones in color). The drawings are of 2002, made good progress since that time.
My best wishes
See Ya!
