On a completely unrelated Google image search, I stumbled upon fantastic work by an artist I was previously unfamiliar with by the name of Jun Bob Kim. I zeroed in on this thumbnail, knowing I'd never seen a commission pairing J'Onn J'Onzz with Karen Starr. J'Onn's history with the Earth-1 Supergirl goes back to "Superman's Funeral!" in 1968, but Earth-2's Kara Zor-L has done a remarkable job of steering clear of the Alien Atlas. Since her introductory bow in 1976, she's either been on a separate Earth, a different continent's branch of Justice League International, deluded into hanging out in Atlantis, or tied up with the Justice Society of America while Martian Manhunter's been solo. If anyone can recall a significant encounter between the two characters, I'm all ears. This begs the question, why exactly are they in a picture together, the uptight Martian seemingly failing to console the heroine? My best guess would be that she's bummed out about being a second rate analogue for the Maid of Might, territory well traveled by a weak-kneed Superman stand-in. Didn't Power Girl even have her own groan-worthy common weakness, like "unprocessed materials." I'll take fire over a tree branch or clumps of dirt in the eye any day...
I went on a bit of a Jun Bob Kim kick, so I recommend taking a peek at his site at the link above, or check out a few more of my posts:

Has anyone read/heard of the new Batman: Brave and The Bold Comic Series. They recently released one its number 18 and it has a story of Batman and Martian Manhunter teaming up to defeat Malefic. Has anyone read it and if so is it good.
They should switch costumes!
Anonymous, I did read the issue of Batman: TB&TB. It was so-so. The Martian Manhunter was pretty much only in the first five pages. I was a little disappointed, because I had been waiting for months for it.
LissBirds i was reading a review of it and it said they were fighting a "White Martian General named Malefic" In the story did they right Malefic as a White Martian instead of a Green?
