The Vile Menagerie: MANHUNTER'S DOOM
Occupation: "Suitable Opponent"
Group Affiliation: Vulture
Base of Operations: Europe
First Appearance: House of Mystery #170 (October, 1967)
Height: Approx. 15 ft.
History:
After Mr. V had compiled an extensive photographic dossier of Vulture's run-ins with the Manhunter from Mars using hidden cameras, he paid international playboy Marco Xavier to analyze the material to determine Manhunter's weakness. Concluding that Faceless would inevitably come to the same conclusion, the Manhunter, in his Marco Xavier guise, revealed his Martian vulnerability to fire. Within a month, Mr. V tasked his scientists to construct a warrior that would end the threat of the Martian Marvel to his criminal organization. It was then deployed to the estate of Baron du Marchal, a friend of the Manhunter's, whom Xavier had confirmed would host the Martian that week. After a brief struggle, the Alien Atlas disabled the opponent by dumping it into a pool. Despite never managing to seize the Manhunter or use its flame, Mr. V. dismissed his construct and assumed Xavier's conclusion as to the vulnerability was in error.
Powers & Weapons:
The robot's body was made from the same heat-resistant compound as rocket shields, containing a jet burner at its core capable of melting a steel wall. In its head rested a transistorized computer, preset to hold the Manhunter against its body and release the internal flames.
