2010 "DC Ultra Spread C" by Gilbert Monsanto

A couple of weeks back, I was at Amazon Princess, where I found two sketch posts by Bayan Knights artist Gilbert Monsanto. Both pictures were fantastically detailed, recalling some of Art Adams' stuff, which is a mighty fine compliment. You can check them out for yourself here and here. I combed his entire Deviant Art Gallery and CAF pages for more, and found plenty of nice images like this one of Wonder Woman & Spider-Man versus the Hulk, but no Martian Manhunter. I groused online about the matter, only to have the artist himself comment "Then I guess, I'll have to make a Martian Manhunter piece very soon. :)"

True to his word in a big way, Gilbert Monsanto has produced the first extra-DC art I've seen of J'Onn J'Onzz in his new Brightest Day get-up. Other players in "The Twelve" on the page are Firestorm, Hawkman, Deadman and Aquaman (also in new threads,) plus the Flash. The page is actually just one piece in an inter-connected series of unknown length, as it is a work in progress, but you can see A-C combined here. It's great to see so many favorites of mine back from the dead, together again, and on the same page. It's a shame about Ray, keeping company with Hal Jordan, but you can't win the all.

Cool! I added a permanent link to the post, and will do a Wonder Woman gallery and Zatanna post elsewhere in the near future...
