A few months ago, I put my copy of Identity Crisis in my "to sell" box. It was surprisingly cathartic.
I haven't been keeping tabs, but it seems like it's been a while since I've heard anything about the Legion. Glad to hear they're back.
I thought Identity Crisis was a brutal use of a character, made much of the Justice League of America seem like the Justice League of A__holes, and was an effort to have brutality seem edgy and vital to storytelling.
I can take some very brutal fiction, but you know the villains are pretty disgusting when the ROGUES (yes, people who have tried to kill Flash a few times) send a wreath and flowers to someone's funeral. Generally, I want to LIKE the protagonist of a story but DC seems to forgot that many people feel this way.
Sorry for the late reply, but I've been busy with... as thing. Anyway, I don't think the Legion has come up since the last series ended.
Will, I'm an old school fan, but I believe that there are characters that are made to be flexible conceptually, like Adam Warlock, and some that are more rigid, like the classic DC heroes. By screwing with something not made to bend, you can break it, and the DC Universe feels very broken since Identity Crisis. I'm still mostly a second-tier publisher reader these days (Image, Dark Horse, BOOM!) but I've even been reading more Marvel than DC, even though they've been largely broken in my eyes for decades. At least Marvel is giving me something besides a Wonder Woman anthology to look forward to.
