2007 “Super Powers” by Ookla the Mok fan video

I was playing catch up reading the Irredeemable Shag's Once Upon a Geek while thinking about playing catch up with this "daily" blog, and found I could put both together. Yippee-skippy!

Shag posted this fan-made video for the band Ookla the Mok's song “Super Powers,” which briefly features the Manhunter from Mars. The accompanying lyrics could just as likely (re:most likely) refer to Superman, but the fan went with J'Onn, and so it goes here. Thanks to El Santo for dropping the Alien Atlas in at the 1:40 mark, and for that cool Black Goliath deal. The lyrics can be found here.

Doesn't Junior's "MARVEL" stand for something, too?

I found that really amusing, even if most of it went over my head because it leaned Marvel. Martian Manhunter getting referenced in a rock song...who would've thought...

I don't know now about the MARVEL (Capt. Jr., no the company) I think he just had a portion of the Shazam power. According to wikipedia, Freddy Freeman now goes by straight up "Shazam."

Thanks for the shout-out! I found that song to be really fun. My favorite by Ookla the Mok (great name) is Arthur Curry. You gotta track down that one. Hilarious!

M.C., the Marvel Family was all over acronyms, both amongst themselves and their foes. I can't speak with confidence about "MARVEL!," but I'd swear it got the "SHAZAM!" treatment at some point.

Shag, I think (think) I've heard their Aquaman tune.
